Ante Natal
Antenatal Clinics are held by appointment at St Peter’s Hospital, Shepton Mallet (Tel 01749 342378)
Post Natal examinations are carried out by appointment at the surgery on Fridays and the full maternity care is provided for those wishing to deliver locally.
Asthma and Diabetes
Our practice nurses hold regular clinics, please contact the surgery for advice and to arrange appointments.
Child Health
Assessment, and advice is carried out by both doctors and health visitors. The key checks are as follows:
- 6 weeks Developmental check with the doctor.
- 6 to 9 months Developmental assessment and hearing test with your health visitor.
Your health visitor will advise you about further routine checks.

These are held regularly as are school leavers sessions.
You will receive notification of an appointment direct from the health authority. Please bring with you to the appointment your Personal Child Health Record (red booklet), your appointment card and your signed consent form.
If you are unable to keep the appointment please let reception know in good time beforehand.
Counselling
Our practice counsellor is Ruth Winocour who sees patients referred to her by the doctors and proactice nurses
Family Planning
The doctor can advise on family planning during routine appointments, Special clinics are held for the fitting of intra-uterine contraceptive devices. Two of our doctors are trained to fit nexplanon implants. Emergency and confidential information is available at all times.
Foreign Travel
We are able to arrange most vaccinations required for foreign travel. Please consult the practice sufficiently early. See Holiday Travel.
Health Promotion and Prevention
Our practice nurses can arrange blood tests, blood pressure checks, cervical smears, dietary advice, dressings, ear hygiene, routine immunisations, regular management of long term conditions, audiograms, support for smoking cessation, family planning and holiday immunisations.
Influenza and Pneumococcal Immunisations
We arrange a vaccination programme annually in the autumn - usually October. Patients aged 65 or over and those of any age suffering from a chronic condition are encouraged to attend for vaccination.
Flu clinics are advertised nearer the time in the surgery and on this website. Special arrangemens are made for patients who are housebound or in residential or nursing care.
Minor Surgery
Doctors can carry out some minor procedures in the surgery - these sessions are held on Thursday afternoons by appointment.
